Overall Review: January is not the best time for me to do my review, as my ambient temps in my home jump about 12-15F (to roughly 80F) by May, and stay that way until October, even with central A/C. (Big and Heavy aren't exactly cons, more like disclaimers for people who don't understand these cards truly are massive, not flat like the old days.) Be careful when setting this card into your mobo if you do it inside a Mid-tower type case. The card is heavy (treat it like you're holding a standard red brick), as I was lowering it into the PCI-E slot, and it was in the slot, it had almost enough weight to lock itself completely into position. The *tiny* gap right here in turn creates a hot spot that does radiate slightly toward the front of the case (can feel a warm spot, nothing major to me, but could be a long-term concern). Cooler Master Scout case has the FRONT of the video card exhaust facing the bottom of the Optical drive bay cage/ top of the HD cage cage.
Great Value!! I plan to SLI with another EVGA GTX 275 when they price drop.eventually.Ĭons: Big, recommend a full ATX case. I have not overclocked the card's videp memory either. I have not overclocked the GPUs independently. Don't have a ton of cash to try other games yet. Runs Crysis 1280x1024 at 8x AA, all other settings 'HIGH', a few set to 'very high' based on my preferences. I'm used to my nVidia 7900 that idled at 50C+/. It is running WoW in the background at MAX right now (1280x1024 though), speedfan reporting 44C and 43C for the GPU's. Bumping the 275 core up to 675 and to my goal of 700 Mhz should be simple enough, but still have to be careful. I have a stable OC of 666 Mhz on the card right now. EVGA E-LEET utility is extremely easy to use.
